How to Live Healthily: The Most Important Things You Should Know

I am currently in my late 60s and I’m beginning to think about how I can look after myself so that I can remain healthy, active, and enjoy life. I want to be around for a long time and give my children, grandchildren, and their children the gift of family.

  • What are your biggest health concerns?
  • We’re entering the age of longevity–living more than 100 years
  • What will you look like at age 90?
  • Are you ready?

I’m sure we all share similar thoughts. What do you think about our health concerns? When did you start to take care of your health? What have been some of the most important changes you’ve implemented in your diet, physical activity, or other areas of health concern since then? What are some of the things that have made them easier or harder to implement?

I’m already living a healthier lifestyle by developing new habits that will last a lifetime. I want to know what motivates you in choosing the foods you eat, the amount you exercise, whether you sleep well, and how much stress you’re experiencing. Are there any additional tips or tricks (remembering my poor memory!) that would help with any of these areas of concern?

Most people have an opinion about what constitutes a healthy lifestyle. We tell ourselves, our friends and family, and our doctors that we need to lose weight and get more exercise. We make the same resolutions year after year, but somehow we never seem to make lasting changes. This is because most programs for weight loss focus on willpower rather than the real underlying causes of weight gain.

Trying to lose weight by willpower alone is like trying to win a chess match by only moving your knight. You need to improve your strategy by also using your bishop, rook, and queen.

To succeed at making long-term changes to your lifestyle, you need to consider all of the factors that contribute to a healthy lifestyle, including diet, exercise, stress management, and sleep. These four aspects are inextricably linked, and they all play a vital role in the success of any weight loss program.

A good diet requires planning; an effective exercise program requires dedication; stress management requires support; and finally, getting enough sleep helps us stay healthy as well as rethink our eating habits, exercise routine, and stress management techniques.

By addressing all four aspects of healthy living we can achieve sustainable results rather than short-term fixes.

Ultimately, healthy living is about loving yourself and the life you live. It’s taking care of your physical body, but it’s also making an effort to take care of your emotional and mental well-being as well. That being said, there are a lot of ways to make this lifestyle change easier for yourself. Try some new things and see what works for you. And if you fall off the wagon a few times along the way, don’t let that get you down. Get back up and try again!
